Among the many signs and symbols used by the church to celebrate its faith, music is of preeminent importance. As sacred song united to words, it forms a necessary or integral part of the solemn liturgy.
St. John Neumann Parish has several choirs, all of which welcome new members. Cantors are always needed and instrumentalists are welcomed.
There are concerts throughout the year, to which all are invited. Our choirs sing a Festival of Carols during the Advent-Christmas-Epiphany season and, when time permits, a presentation of Holy Week music. We welcome The Gaithersburg Chorus here twice a year, when they are singing music that is appropriate for our church, and there is usually one organ recital each year. In the past, we have hosted the Boy choir from Limerick (Germany) and other touring choirs. Over the next several years we hope to expand our concert offerings.
