Liturgy:

Spanish Mass and Confessions - Saint John Neumann is now offering Mass in Spanish on Sundays at 5:00 P.M. with confessions from 3:30 to 4:30 P.M.

Parish and Community:
  • TANIA VARRIEUR REESE SCHOLARSHIP - SJN high school seniors going on to college are eligible. Applications are available in the lobby and must be completed and placed in the designated box in the lobby on or before May 19th.
  • SJN PARISH PICNIC, June 8th from 12 noon to 5 pm - This year we are celebrating 30 years as a family of faith. We would appreciate help in the following areas to help plan this celebration: (1.) Bake cakes for the cake wheel, (2.) Bake large cookies (oatmeal or chocolate chip) for lunch, and (3.) Get local businesses to donate items such as gift certificates, books, glassware, etc., to be used as prizes for bingo. Please call Michael May (301-253-6701) if you can be of assistance in any of the above areas.
  • DONATIONS NEEDED - This year we are celebrating the 30th anniversary  of the founding of this parish of St. John Neumann We have a special Anniversary Picnic planned for June 8th. There will be added festivities this year including a family Bingo area.  We are hoping to have prizes donated to give the lucky winners.  We are asking parishioners that have their own businesses if they would be willing to donate some item or service for this happy cause. It can be an actual item or perhaps a gift certificate which can be redeemed at your place of business. All donors will receive acknowledgment in our Sunday bulletin. If you can help us, please contact  Mary Kurtz by email to mkurtz@saintjohnneumann.org or call the rectory at 301-977-5492 ext. 30.
  • You've Got Mail From SJN Parish - We’ve decided to make the most of the fact that people these days use email. Hundreds of our parish families have given their email addresses, so we are going to send out notices occasionally about special events in the parish. With the permission of the families involved, we will send out notices when parishioners pass away along with information regarding the funeral arrangements. This will allow all of us to remember the deceased in our prayers and to know when the funeral Mass is being held. If you want to be sure that we have your email address, please send us a note at sjnp@saintjohnneumann.org. Alternately, if you don’t want to receive these notices, please contact us at the same address. We also remind you that you can check out Parish Community news through the weekly bulletin posted at our website, www.saintjohnneumann.org., click on news.
  • Registration for the 2008-09 Religious Education Year - Registration Forms are available at the Office of Religious Formation or send an email to Diane Trimble at dtrimble@saintjohnneumann.org. Please register early to avoid a late fee.  Religious Education is of primary importance for all of Saint John Neumann’s children.  Please do not let tuition costs discourage you from enrolling your children.  Tuition Assistance is available on an as needed basis.  Please contact Maureen Joseph at 301-977-7990 or mjoseph@saintjohnneumann.org for more information.
  • Vocations Chalice - Have you signed up yet to participate in the Vocations Chalice project? A special “Vocations Chalice” is presented to a parish family, couple, or individual at one Mass per weekend. Those who receive the Vocations Chalice commit to praying daily for vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life for one week, then return the chalice to the church. Everyone who wants to participate in this ongoing program will have an opportunity. Just fill out the form in the church lobby near the vocations display to be added to the schedule. A member of the Vocations Committee will contact you to confirm when you will receive the chalice (you may reschedule if necessary). If you have any questions, please call the Rectory.
  • SHARE THE WORD - The magazine/pamphlet rack in the lobby would welcome some good used Catholic magazines.  Instead of discarding them, offer your gently used magazines to your fellow parishioners by placing them in the far right set of holders. Thank you.
  • El Almendro Clinic Update - The new security fence and gate have been installed. Work is now beginning on the covered waiting area. The clinic is in need of a nebulizer for several small children who need to be treated. Over 250 individuals have been seen in the clinic since January 2008. The community is extremely grateful for the generosity of SJN Parish, Goshen Enterprises and other donors and look forward to continued support in 2008. Please e-mail Kevin@goshenenterprises.com for more information.
