I am new to the area, how do I register at Saint John Neumann?
Welcome!
Our Rectory Office is open weekdays, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
  • You may pick up a registration form during those times. (click for directions)
  • You may also download it from here. Save the file, complete it, and email to mkurtz@saintjohnneumann.org.
  • Or you may call 301-977-5492 or email info@saintjohnneumann.org to have it mailed or emailed to you.
  • In addition, registration forms can be found in the foyer of our church.

  • I want to have a Mass said for a special intention or deceased relative, who should I contact?
    Come to the Rectory to make arrangements for a Mass and to get the Mass card. Generally Masses are booked about 2-4 weeks ahead for the weekday Masses and 8 weeks ahead for weekend English Masses.

    Someone in my family is seriously ill, how do I go about obtaining the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick for them?
    The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is for the spiritual comfort, strength and healing of the ill. Any Catholic who is facing serious illness, is entering the hospital, and/or is of advanced years may receive this Sacrament. Persons may receive it more than once. This Sacrament is no longer only for those who may be near death, but in those cases where death may be imminent, contact the rectory immediately to arrange for this Sacrament. Call the rectory at 301-977-5492 or the parish emergency number at 301-481-0594.

    Someone in my family is in a nursing home or ill, how do I arrange for a Priest to visit?
    Call the Rectory at 301-977-5492 to arrange for a clergy to visit.

    Someone in my family has passed away, how do I arrange for a funeral Mass?
    Call the Rectory (301-977-5492) before making arrangements with a funeral home. One of the clergy will help you with your arrangements.

    When are Baptisms for infants (up to 7 years of age) held?
    Baptisms are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month at 11 AM. Baptisms in Spanish are on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 3 PM.

    What do I need to do to have my infant Baptized?
    To have your child baptized you MUST:
  • First and foremost call the rectory office to speak with a priest or deacon
  • Be registered at Saint John Neumann Parish
  • Fill out a Baptism Preparation Form
  • Identify two practicing Catholics to act as Godparents. The Godparents must:
    ....+ Be sixteen (16) years of age or older
    ....+ Be a Catholic who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist
    ....+ Participate in the Celebration of the Eucharist weekly
    ....+ Live a life in harmony with the Roman Catholic Church and the Gospel
    .......This includes a valid marriage recognized by the Church
    ....+ Not be the parent of the candidate for Baptism
  • Attend Baptism Preparation Classes which are held every month on the first Saturday at 11 AM. Preparation for Spanish-speaking parishioners is scheduled the first Monday of every month or arranged on an individual basis.

  • I want to get married at Saint John Neumann Church, what do I need to do?
    Couples seeking to be married in the Church are to make arrangements with a priest or deacon six months in advance of their intended wedding date. This should be done prior to any other reception or invitation arrangements so that the parish may suitably serve the couple. One of the individuals must be a registered parishioner. Call 301-977-5492 to make an appointment to speak with a priest or deacon.

    I haven't been to Mass in a long time, who do I talk to about re-kindling my faith?
    Contact the Rectory at 301-977-5492 to make an appointment to talk with one of the priests or deacons.

    How do I register my children for religious education classes?
    Contact Maureen Joseph or Damaris Rivera by email at the Religious Formation Office or call 301-977-7990.

    I want to have my child receive First Holy Communion or be Confirmed, what do I need to do?
    Any youth or adult seeking these sacraments is asked to contact Maureen Joseph or Damaris Rivera at the Religious Formation Office at 301-977-7990.

    Does Saint John Neumann have a school and how do I register my child?
    There is no school attached directly to the parish. Saint John Neumann supports a regional school called Mary of Nazareth School and you should contact the school directly for more information.

    Instead of using envelopes or writing a check, can I make donations to St. John Neumann on-line using my debit or credit card? Does this include second collections?
    St. John Neumann parish is associated with Faith Direct which is a secure, on-line, direct debit offertory collection system. You can find out more about Faith Direct by calling (866) 507-8757 or accessing their website http://www.faithdirect.net. Click on the Enrollment Form button on the website and use the parish code MD35 to setup your account. Follow the directions on the web site.

    You may choose to donate using a debit or credit card and there is the opportunity to contribute to all other collections in addition to the weekly offertory. This can also be used for one-time donations.
